This is a simple kit that models the way that earthquakes can be located. It consists of two microphones on long leads, an adaptor and an extension lead. The two microphones are placed at a distance apart, and connected to the microphone input of a computer running sound recording software (stereo channels). Clapping nearer one of the microphones demonstrates that there is a difference in the arrival times at each of the microphones. This kit can also be used to estimate the speed of sound.
Please Note: The computer used with this product needs to have a soundcard that has a 'true stereo' microphone input - examples of such soundcards are SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio or Realtek High Definition Audio. In general, unfortunately, it is not easy to find information about this in the documentation accompanying the soundcard, so trial-and-error may be the only method to find out.
To date we have a compatibility rate above 95%; so the odds are that your device WILL work.
