Much of the energy consumption in the modern world relies on the use non-renewable fossil fuels, and there is increasing interest in the use of renewable biofuels. The ‘Biofuels’ booklet looks at the current developments in this area and the extent to which these fuels can make a useful contribution to energy supplies. There are student activities and teacher demonstrations that look at how different biofuels are made, and how their properties can be tested and compared to conventional fuels.
See below for the practical resources that have been identified and developed specifically for use with the activities in this booklet.
Further resources can be downloaded from the ‘Biofuels’ page on the SEP
website, including an electronic version of the booklet. (Access is for SEP Teacher Associates - this scheme is free
to join for science teachers and technicians in UK secondary schools.) |
