The SEP booklet ‘Building Materials’ considers the properties of some
building materials and approaches and why they are used. It provides an accessible
overview of real issues and solutions in building, linking these to basic ideas
about energy transfer, forces in structures and properties of materials, and includes
some ideas and suggestions for classroom activities.
See below for the practical resources that have been identified and developed
specifically for use with the activities in this booklet.
Further resources can be downloaded from the 'Building
Materials' page on the SEP
website, including an electronic version of the booklet. (Access
is for SEP Teacher Associates - this scheme is free
to join for science teachers and technicians in UK secondary schools.) |
