The SEP booklet ‘QTC: a Remarkable New Material to Control Electricity’
looks at how this new material can be used in teaching about electricity and
in science incestigations. QTC stands for Quantum Tunnelling Composite. Its
name may sound complex, but what it does is essentially quite easy to understand
– when you squeeze it, its electrical resistance drops. It is simple and
safe to use, and its complex and subtle behaviour make it a fascinating material
for investigation. (KS3 and KS4).
See below for the practical resources that have been identified and developed
specifically for use with the activities in this booklet.
Further resources can be downloaded from the 'QTC' page on the SEP
website, including an electronic version of the booklet. (Access
is for SEP Teacher Associates - this scheme is free
to join for science teachers and technicians in UK secondary schools.) |
